1. Chain in Circle

  • When given the start signal, timing has begun. Raise the chain about 10 ft. off the ground to clear obstacles and personnel, move it over DA-2, and land the chain in DA-2.
  • Once it makes contact, do not lift chain off the ground.
  • Avoid contacting anything, but DA-2.
  • Once the chain is under control in DA-2, the stop signal will be given.

2. Hand Signals

  • You will follow four hand signals to bring the chain from DA-2 back to DA-1. This is not timed.

3. Test Weight through Corridor—Forward

  • When given start signal, timing has begun. Guide the Test Weight through the corridor.
  • Avoid letting the Test Weight contact anything, but keep the chain on the ground.
  • Once the Test Weight is placed in DA-2, the stop signal.
  • If the stop is not given this indicates the weight is not within the circle and timing continues.
  • When finished, you may reposition the boom tip, but do not lift the Test Weight.

4. Test Weight through Corridor—Reverse

  • When given you the start signal, timing has begun. Guide the Test Weight back through the corridor.
  • All the same instructions as before apply: avoid hitting anything, keep the chain on the ground, and be sure test Weight lands in DA-3.
  • Once in DA-3, the stop signal will be given.

5. Un-stow Auger

  • When given the start signal, un-stow auger. This task is untimed.
  • Safely un-stow the auger and contact ground in preparation to dig a hole.

6. Auger Hole

  • When given the start signal, auger a hole in the ground on my mark. This task is untimed.
  • Dig until flights are no longer visible and the stop signal is given.

7. Stow Auger

  • When given the start signal, safely stow auger. This task is untimed.
  • When ready, the proctor will assist in connecting the strap to the pin.

8. Pick up pole

  • When given the start signal, pick up the pole and place securely in pole guides with the pole a few inches off the ground. Keep the pole butt within DA-4. This task is untimed.
  • For safety reasons, if at any point, control of the pole is lost, the task will be stopped and your exam will end.
  • If you’d like assistance in the final placement of pole in pole guides, signal the examiner.
  • Once completed, the stop signal will be given.

9. Place pole in DA-5

  • When given the start signal, timing has begun. Move pole into DA-5.
  • Once inside DA-5, the stop signal will be given.

10. Stow Boom in Cradle

  • When given the start signal, timing has begun. Stow boom and following proper secure procedures for travel.
  • Once properly stowed, the stop signal will be given.
